Privacy Policy

Overview

SonarRoom is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your acoustic measurements, room data, and personal information stay on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your data.

Data Collection

SonarRoom does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

The app communicates with two external services: Apple's App Store (to process in-app purchases and verify subscription status — see Purchases & Subscriptions below) and Meta's advertising platform (for anonymous install and purchase measurement — see Third-Party Services below).

Data Stored on Your Device

SonarRoom stores the following data locally on your device:

All data is stored using SwiftData in the app's private container and in the app's Documents directory. This data is included in your iCloud and iTunes backups if you have those enabled.

Purchases & Subscriptions

SonarRoom is free to download and free to use for room scanning and measurement. Viewing measurement analysis requires either a one-time Single Result Unlock ($4.99) or a SonarRoom Unlimited auto-renewing subscription ($9.99 / month).

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We never see, handle, or store your payment information, Apple ID, email address, or billing address. Apple provides the app with an anonymous transaction identifier and entitlement status that lets the app unlock content you've paid for.

Consumable single-result unlocks are, by Apple's design, not restorable. Active subscriptions can be restored on any device signed into your Apple ID via the "Restore Purchases" button on the paywall.

Permissions

SonarRoom requests the following system permissions:

You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Without microphone access, measurements cannot be performed. Without camera access, you can still use the manual room editor and point-by-point measurement mode.

Data Sharing

SonarRoom includes an export feature that lets you share measurement results as PDF reports or EQ correction files. This sharing is initiated only by you, and data is shared through the standard iOS share sheet to destinations you choose.

We do not have access to any data you choose to share.

Third-Party Services

All acoustic measurement, analysis, room scanning, and export functionality works entirely offline. Your acoustic data never leaves your device. SonarRoom integrates with two third-party services, both described below.

Apple App Store — handles all in-app purchases and subscription entitlement checks. See Purchases & Subscriptions above.

Meta (Facebook) SDK — the app includes the Facebook iOS SDK (FacebookCore) solely to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns SonarRoom runs on Meta platforms. The SDK sends the following events to Meta:

We have explicitly disabled collection of the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA). Attribution is performed via Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork, which returns aggregated, non-personal campaign data. The SDK never sees or transmits your room scans, measurements, acoustic data, email, name, or any content you create in the app. Meta's handling of the events it receives is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.

If you would like Meta to delete data associated with your device, you can do so through Meta's Off-Facebook Activity controls or by disabling the app in Meta's Ads Preferences.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

Children's Privacy

SonarRoom is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children. Since the app collects no data at all, no special provisions are necessary.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated through an in-app notice.
